I’m always on the hunt for recipes that help keep my meals simple, fast, and healthy! As I focus on implementing more protein into my nutrition, I found an amazing smoothie that has over 40 grams of protein! I’ve included the ingredients and directions below:
Ingredients
1/2 ripe banana
6 large frozen strawberries (about 3/4 cup)
3/4 cup non-fat greek yogurt
3/4 cup orange juice
1 scoop vanilla protein powder (we love myprotein and women’s best protein)
optional: a handful of oats and/or ice
Directions / Tips
Combine all ingredients in blender, and blend until smooth(ie)
Serve immediately in a glass
If there are leftovers, you can freeze them in popsicle molds and have a tasty snack for later (they are also great for teething kiddos!)
We have a ninja bullet blender, which has a smoothie setting – if you are using a regular blender, you can use the pulse feature a few times to make sure you mix all of the ingredients well
If you are using the ninja bullet, we recommend adding the wet ingredients, then frozen/fresh ingredients, and finally the protein powder last. This helps keep the powder close to the blender blades, because once you flip over the cup, powder gets stuck at the top if you added it before everything else (we learned from experience 🤪)
This recipe does contain over 50g of sugar – note that this is from whole fruits / fruit juice, not processed sugar. If you want to cut out some of the sugar, you can opt for milk or water in place of the orange juice
