You know that feeling when you’re hungry, and you don’t want a full meal, but a small snack won’t get the job done? Enter, protein bites. These versatile little balls of flavor packed protein snacks are the answer. You know how we do it here with the recipes section of our blog; right to the point – the recipe:
2 Tbs. Chocolate Chips (honestly go with your mood on this one – who doesn’t want more chocolate chips in their snack)
1 Tbs. Flaxseed (optional)
1 Tbs. Chia Seeds (optional)
Directions:
Combine all ingredients except chocolate chips in a mixing bowl and stir – getting the mixture to combine will take some elbow grease, so be patient with this step.
Fold in the chocolate chips.
Roll dough into 1″ balls on a baking sheet (throw some parchment paper on there if you’ve got it like that).
Place in the refrigerator and let them cool for an hour (probably best to taste test one or five before you cool them).
Tips:
We love to experiment with the Clean Simple Eats protein flavors. I can confidently say their flavors are far better than any other brand of protein powders that I’ve tried. We made a batch with the Pumpkin Pie protein from Clean Simple Eats, and it makes a perfect pair with your morning coffee for the fall.
While we encourage you to add as many chocolate chips as your heart desires, do be aware that too many will make it difficult to roll the balls and keep them together.
You can also try different forms/amounts of sweetener. Honey, agave, and syrup all work great.
These have quickly become a household favorite for us, so comment below what you think, or let us know if you have any suggestions for other tasty ingredients to add!
