Hi friends! I can’t believe it—my baby is officially six months old and ready to start solids. Cue the happy tears… and maybe a few sad ones too! How is she growing up so fast?! This is such a huge milestone, and I want to take you along for the ride as we navigate this exciting, messy, and sometimes overwhelming journey together. From choosing the first foods to figuring out what works best for our family, I’ll be sharing all the details—the wins and the struggles. Whether you’re starting solids with your little one soon or just curious about the process, I hope this post helps you feel informed and encouraged. Let’s dive in!
Making Mealtime Easier with the Mockingbird Highchair & Feeding Set
Starting solids is such a big milestone, and having the right setup makes all the difference! The Mockingbird Highchair & Feeding Set has been a total game-changer—combining style, functionality, and easy cleanup—everything a busy parent needs. The highchair’s adjustable footrest supports proper posture, while the five-point harness keeps Abigail secure as she explores new foods. But what really sets it apart are the thoughtful details! The Y-shaped frame tucks neatly under the table when not in use, the silicone straps are super easy to clean (no more scrubbing fabric ones!), and the removable, wipeable tray ensures no hidden food messes. Plus, Mockingbird meets—and often exceeds—the highest safety regulations, so I know my baby is in good hands. And the best part? This highchair grows with your baby, transitioning into a toddler chair so you can use it for years. If you’re starting solids and want a setup that makes mealtime easier, I highly recommend the Mockingbird Highchair & Feeding Set! Use my code LIZWEBBER for a free dishware set with your purchase!

Why We’re Trying Baby-Led Weaning
As we start this solids journey, we’re incorporating baby-led weaning—a feeding approach that encourages babies to explore whole foods and self-feed from the start. Instead of relying solely on purées, this allows babies to practice chewing, develop hand-eye coordination, and learn to listen to their hunger cues. I love that it fosters independence and helps create a positive relationship with food early on! Of course, safety is a top priority, so we’re focusing on soft, easy-to-grasp foods and always supervising meals closely. While it’s definitely a messy process (hello, food everywhere!), I’m so excited to watch my baby girl one discover new textures and flavors on her own terms.
Easy & Nutritious Purée Recipes for Starting Solids
Since we’re doing baby-led weaning, we’re still incorporating some purées into our routine. Here are a few simple and clean recipes I’ve found that make feeding time both easy and nutritious!
