It’s the go-to cocktail of choice – whether it’s happy hour at your favorite Mexican restaurant, pitchers with the crew, or an easy at home drink, margarita’s are always a hit. We have the perfect recipe for a home-made, quick, and delicious margarita; and it contains an ingredient you might not expect.
We have a rule of thumb with at-home cocktail recipes: less is more. I’ll follow that criteria with this post and get right down to the nitty gritty: Ingredients.
Coconut Margarita:
1 1/2 oz silver tequila (2 oz if you prefer your libations a bit stronger)
1/2 oz cointreau (or triple sec)
1/2 oz 100% lime juice (emphasis on 100% lime juice – freshly squeezed is best, Santa Cruz pure lime juice is great when you’re making more than a couple)
*you can stop here on the list of ingredients if you just want a classic margarita*
1 oz cream of coconut, we use Coco Lopez (NOT coconut cream)
Pour the ingredients into a shaker, add 1/2 cup – 1 cup of ice, and shake until your hands get cold (about 20-30 seconds).
With a strainer, pour the contents of the shaker into a glass filled with ice. You can also rim with sugar or salt if desired. Let us know what you think when you try this recipe, it’s one of our favorites when we are looking for something easy but unique!
